A Stellar Astronaut
This art activity is out of this world. Cut a circle from the center of a paper plate. Draw a self-portrait on the circle and then glue lengths of yarn around the self-portrait to make hair. Next, glue the self-portrait to a sheet of black construction paper. Position the remaining rim of the plate so it’s upside down and then glue it to the construction paper, allowing the self-portrait to show through. Last, add stars and other details as desired. |

Lovely Swans
Swim into spring with these simple swans! To make one, cut a thin white paper plate in half; then cut away the rim of the plate from one half. Glue the rim to the intact plate half, as shown, to form the swan's neck. Then glue on an orange construction paper beak and add a black contruction paper eye. Add a few pretty white craft feathers to complete this beautiful bird!

Sneaky Snake
Suspend this “sssuper” snake from the ceiling to surprise and delight your students! For each child, use a permanent marker to draw a spiral on the paper plate. Use crayons to decorate the snake as desired. Use a permanent marker to draw facial features on the snake. Punch a hole in the snake’s tail. Thread an end of a length of thin ribbon or fishing line through the hole and tie it to the snake. Suspend the snake from your ceiling. |
